I was introduced to Ms. Beverly McClain of FOSCI soon after I tragically lost my son. My brother and sister heard about FOSCI through a mutual friend. They contacted Mrs. McClain and she came to my house with such a soft spoken voice and asked me what did I need. I really didn't know because I was in a dark place at the time. Mrs. McClain proceeded to take charge. She told me that after all the family and friends are gone she'll be there. My son passed away April 17, 2013 and Mrs. McClain is still here with her soft spoken voice. In my state of mind at the time, I really didn't know whether I was coming or going. Therefore, Mrs. McClain was an Angel sent from Heaven because she called to check on me daily, she gave supplies that I didn't know I would need. She also sat and listened to me in the late night hours when I was most lonely. When most people thought I should past over the ordeal, Mrs. McClain was still there drying my tears and giving me lots of hugs. I think that youth programs are very important. I also commend FOSCI for being here when I needed her and her organization. Families have no idea what’s in store when tragedy strikes. Therefore, to have a place like FOSCI is a great gift for helping us heal and to get back to a place where we can at least feel normal again.
