I would have never imagined that I would have an Angel from God on earth. One day my daughter and a friend and I went to Families of Slain Children, Inc. to get a paper notarized. Mrs. Beverly McClain looked at me and said, “Do I know you?” I said, “No”. Then she said, “We have some kind of connection, and she asked if I would come back to see her”. Well time went by and I saw the building that once was abandoned. My daughter had run away and slept on that very front porch. Now it is a ray of Hope. The very next Tuesday FOSCI was giving a Community Food giveaway and I was in the line. I stop Ms. McClain and asked, “What is this place?” When she told me that it was a house for Families of Slain Children, Inc., I told her about my second child. My first born child’s father killed my second child. This was such a tragedy as my son was only 2 years old and for so many years I blamed myself for his death. But God always knows what he’s doing. I believe he took my Angel but he has given me another earthly Angel, Mrs. McClain, which helped me grieve. She gave my family top notch food that my family and I really enjoyed. Even when holidays come she opens her heart, arms, and gave so much love. Valentine this year I didn’t think I was going to receive anything from anyone, there came Mrs. Beverly calling and said, “Come here I have something for you.” When I got to the FOSCI facility, there were bags for every one of the FOSCI families. Teddy Bears, candy, a flower, and my favorite coco or coffee cup, from FOSCI with the words “Big and Bright LOVE”. Ms. Beverly McClain is truly a gift from God. Ms. Beverly warmth and concern and caring makes FOSCI a miracle in my life. When I look around and no one is there, I know God put Mrs. Beverly right in the mist. Mrs. Beverly has truly been an inspiration in my life and provided the place for me to be around others that have had homicide impact their lives. Ms. Beverly keeps our loved ones alive in our hearts. God bless and keep Mrs. Beverly well and happy. We need more services like FOSCI provides to the community.
